How much for a DJ?

Our pricing depends on numerous factors including: location, size of your event, timeframe, as well as what sort of equipment makes the most sense for your event. We offer a variety of packages to fit your needs. Our pricing can range anywhere from $349 - $2199. If you're interested in our services we are very quick to respond to quote requests, usually replying within a few hours.

Do you require a retainer?

Yes. We require 30% of your total price to reserve your date. Retainers are non-refundable under all circumstances, but we are happy to apply your retainer to a new date.

Do you travel?

Yes. We've done shows across Alberta since 2002.

What kind of payment do you accept?

We can accept cash, cheque and email money transfers. We do accept AMEX, Master Card, VISA however, a 3.5% surcharge will apply to credit card transactions.

What makes your company different?

We're talented, approachable, fun people who like to throw a party and we're great at it! Owned and operated by a DJ, entertainer, and music producer, our company is well equipped to tackle the latest trends in the music industry. We're not going to annoy you or ignore you, we will work to ensure that your experience is a memorable one.

Why shouldn't I hire you?

If you're looking for a DJ who's going to talk a lot, tell jokes or start impromptu games, we're probably not the best choice for you. That said, if you have a plan and need our help we are more than willing. All of our DJs are comfortable making announcements and love to have fun with the crowd, but we typically do not focus the attention on ourselves.

What kind of DJ gear do you use?

It all depends on what your needs are. We offer a variety of PA systems, sub-woofers, pioneer DJ controllers, Turntables, Sennheiser wireless microphones, up lighting, custom event lighting via sound switch, professional DMX light shows, haze, GOBOs, mirror balls and more. 

Do you offer projectors?

Yes, we do! We can provide projectors, screens, and audio amplification for picture or video presentations.

Can you guys mix like DJs in the club?

Yes! Our DJs are actual DJs who love to mix music and engage a crowd. Some of us are stronger on the technical side than others, so we pair our clients with the most appropriate DJ depending on your requirements. Mixing music is an integral part of DJing, it increases the energy level on the dance floor and we feel it's important that our DJs show up with the skill to make people dance.  We won't show up to your event and press play on a laptop playlist.

What kind of music do you play?

We play it all! At Market Sound we design a custom playlist for each and every one of our clients, then we pair you with a DJ who best fits your needs. We have DJs who specialize in Top 40, Hip-Hop, EDM, Country, Rock, House, Soca, Latin, Dance Hall, and more. Our simple planning process allows you to tell us about your musical tastes, discuss any must play songs or artists, and find out what your expectations are. We will also define any boundaries if there are certain styles or songs you want to avoid. Our experience combined with the on-going communication we have with all of our clients, means your event will go smoothly. 

What are my responsibilities as a client?

We require a 6 ft table (or bigger) plus access to a regular120 volt power outlet.

If you are having dinner at your function we request that our employee be allowed to eat unless alternative arrangements have been made in advance.

We require that you provide a safe work environment. Clients will be responsible for replacement costs if a guest causes damage to any of our equipment.
